Introduction
Congratulations!
You have been chosen to be part of a research team which has been specially
assigned by the Singapore Research Committee (SRC) to do a study on how the
jobs have changed in Singapore.
You are indeed a valuable member as you were one of the 240 people chosen from
a pool of 1,060 people to do this research.
As
a researcher for SRC, you are to do the following:
- form a
team comprising 5 members. However, this would not be a problem as you have
already formed a team of 5 members. .
- You are
to study the kinds of jobs available in Singapore in the past. This, you have been told, can be found at the NE
Gallery in Sembawang Secondary School. Some of the issues you have to tackle will include: why a
certain group of people would take up a certain job, the part of Singapore they stayed in and what their lifestyle was like.
- For the
second part of your project, you are to study how the job has changed from
the past. For example, if you are doing research on the roti prata seller,
you can discuss how the job today has changed and the people have become
more innovative, introducing new pratas like paper prata and ice cream
prata. This ensures that prata continues to become a food that is liked by
both the young and old. You are to study the reasons for success of this
job and the qualities which brought success to the job such that it can
last till today.
- You are
to do a presentation as well as a soft copy write up of the specific job
in Microsoft Word.
- Finally,
you are to state how Singapore has evolved from your research.
