The NE framework is developed bright colours. This is to symbolise the importance of a vibrant environment which enthuses  pupils into action.

The NE framework is aligned to the school's core values

The NE programmes re-emphasises the school's core values. The school core values are also known as ExCITe. They are: Excellence, Commitment, Integrity and Teamwork.

 

The NE framework is developed with the pupils at the heart of the whole programme.

The outer triangle in the framework symbolises the pyramidal leadership structure for NE. This structure is based on the school's pupil leadership structure and has 5 levels of leadership in NE.

Our Emblem: As educators, we light the fire in every child. As students of Sembawang we will light up the lives of others.

 

NE Alive means: To develop National Education Awareness which Lights a fire; Invites participation; is Visually pleasing; and creates a vibrant environment which Enthuses on to action.

 
The school's NE framework is based on 3 guiding principles.

Guiding Principle 1: To ensure that the NE programmes provide a good balance between allowing the pupils to experience their ethnic heritage and creating a common space. The 2 stars in the framework represent this guiding principle.

Guiding Principle 2: To develop NE programme which is holistic and develop the pupils in the affective, cognitive and behavioural domains. This is represented by the inner triangle in the framework.

Guiding Principle 3: To ensure that the NE programme is developmental. This is represented by the spiral which shows a different theme for each of the levels: Food (Sec 1), Games & Music (Sec 2), Customs & Practices (Sec 3) and Singapore Heartbeat (Sec 4 & 5).
