NE IN LESSONS

The various departments in the school have been developing lessons which infuse NE themes, NE values and school values. These lessons have been uploaded into the school LAN folder for access by all staff members in the school. The school has also introduced four levels of NE infusion in the lessons. These are given below. In each of these lessons, the NE values and school values are incorporated. The school has also developed NE phrases to make NE messages easier for the pupils to internalise and understand. The NE messages and NE phrases are displayed all over the school to make NE more meaningful and part of every one.

Level 1:

Talking about NE matters in class and sharing of NE values /  School values

Example of   Level 1:

Teacher talks about Total Defence Day but makes no link to the lesson. Teacher then carries on with lesson.

Level 2:

Infusing NE through examples and sharing of NE values / School values

Example  of   Level 2:

Teacher gives the class a Math problem sum and use examples like traditional games.

Level 3:

Infusing NE in lessons and sharing of NE values / School values

Example of  Level 3:

Teacher conducts a Science lesson on sounds and uses various traditional music instruments to teach sounds.

Level 4:

Integrating NE in lessons based on horizontal and vertical level discussions, and sharing of NE values / School values

Example of    Level 4:

Teacher infuses NE in her class based on how NE is being infused across the level and in other levels.

Message: Singapore is our homeland. This is where we belong. We want to keep our heritage and our way of life.

NE Phrase: Heritage  - our way of life

Message: No one owes Singapore a living. We must find our own way to survive and prosper.

NE Phrase: Independence – finding our own way

Message: We must ourselves defend Singapore. No one else is responsible for our security and well-being.

NE Phrase: Defence – our security

Message: We must uphold meritocracy and prevent corruption. This provides opportunity for all according to their ability and effort.

NE Phrase: Incorruptibility – opportunity for all

Message: We must preserve racial and religious harmony. Though many races, religions, languages and cultures, we pursue one destiny.

NE Phrase: Culture – one destiny

Message: We have confidence in our future. United, determined, and well-prepared, we shall build a bright future for ourselves.
